A high-level delegation from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Headquarters, led by the Director of Inspectorate, Mr. Richard Amo Yartey, has visited disaster-prone sites in the Cape Coast Metropolis to assess damage caused by multiple building collapses over the past weekend.
Accompanied by the Central Regional Director of NADMO, Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Dawood Mensah, the team’s visit forms part of efforts to prevent future disasters. The inspection sought to evaluate the extent of destruction and collaborate with the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to identify and demolish buildings deemed structurally unsafe and hazardous to lives and property.
As part of the exercise, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, to seek his guidance and support for the impending demolishing activities within his jurisdiction.
The NADMO team also held discussions with the Central Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Merinda Mary Attigah-Mensah, focusing on strengthening collaboration between NADMO and the Ghana National Fire Service in emergency response and life-saving interventions during disasters.
NADMO reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive measures and partnerships with key stakeholders at both the regional and national levels.
