Summary So Far:
-
The NDC is dominating in the Zongo communities and urban areas, particularly around Akwatia Central.
-
The NPP is holding firm in the Wenchi zone, which has historically been a strong base for the party.
-
The LPG’s Patrick Owusu has recorded marginal votes across all stations.
-
Rejected ballots have remained low across the board, though a few polling stations reported between 1 and 7 rejected votes.
The by-election, triggered by the passing of NPP MP Ernest Yaw Kumi, has seen an intense campaign from both major parties. Allegations of vote-buying, intimidation, and political threats have marred the build-up to the polls, with security visibly heightened across the constituency.
The Electoral Commission is expected to declare the official results later tonight or early Wednesday morning.
