The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, has declared her full support for Ghana’s upcoming HPV vaccination campaign aimed at protecting girls from cervical cancer.
Speaking ahead of the national vaccination rollout scheduled for 7th to 14th October 2025, Hon. Ackom urged parents and guardians to ensure that girls aged 9 to 14 years receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
“As a woman, I am determined to protect the health of women and girls, securing a brighter, cancer-free future. Let us fight together by allowing our girls to be vaccinated so they can live up to their dreams,” she emphasized.
The vaccination, which is free and approved by the Ghana Health Service, is being championed by the Preventive Health Nurses Society, Ghana (PREHENS-GH) in collaboration with health authorities in the Central Region.
PREHENS-GH described the HPV vaccine as “a powerful tool in the fight against cervical cancer” and encouraged families across Gomoa East and the wider Ghanaian community to participate fully.
Health officials have reassured the public that the vaccine is safe, and forms part of national efforts to eliminate cervical cancer among Ghanaian women.
Contact lines and further information are available through the Ghana Health Service and PREHENS-GH for community members seeking clarification.
