In a proactive effort to improve healthcare access and awareness, the Dangme East District team of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) stormed the Ada Foah Market with a spirited public education campaign.

Led by the District Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Nyame, the outreach targeted traders, shoppers, and market women with vital information on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Despite early morning rains, the team engaged determinedly with the public, addressing common concerns such as illegal charges at healthcare facilities and misuse of NHIS cards.

A major highlight of the exercise was the promotion of the MyNHIS mobile app. NHIA officers demonstrated how to download and navigate the app, showing users how to renew their policies digitally and access updated information with ease.

The initiative was well-received by market patrons, many of whom expressed gratitude for the practical assistance and clarity provided. “We didn’t know we could renew our cards using our phones. This will really help us,” a market woman said.

According to the NHIA team, similar outreach programs are planned for markets in other communities across both Ada East and Ada West Districts in the coming weeks, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen public engagement and trust in the health insurance system.

Key figures such as Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, Dr. Kwesi Djokoto, Faustina Dery, and Oswald Mensah were acknowledged for their continued support in driving NHIS operations and public health communication across the region.
