“Delay,” they say, “is not denial.” And for Ghanaian defender Abasa Aremeyaw, that saying could not be more true.
At just 22 years old, the towering center-back is ready to take his career to the next level with a move to UAE side Gulf United. Born on August 15, 2003, in Ghana, Aremeyaw has already tasted football in both Europe and America, having featured for Slovakian club MSK Žilina and Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union.
Renowned for his quick feet, commanding aerial ability, and no-nonsense defending style, Aremeyaw has drawn comparisons to Dutch great Virgil Van Dijk. Many believe he is one of Ghana’s brightest defensive prospects yet to fully showcase his potential.
“This is the perfect time for him to shine,” football observers note, adding that the move to the UAE could be the platform for the young defender to display his God-given talent.
For those close to him, Aremeyaw’s personal mantra explains his journey so far: “When you think of quitting, think about how you started.”
With Ghana watching closely, Abasa Aremeyaw’s time to shine may just be now.
