Former SWAG President Ebo Quansah Passes Away
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has announced the passing of its former President, Ebo Quansah. He served as SWAG President from 2001 to 2007 and previously held roles such as Deputy Secretary and Secretary-General. Until his death, he was a Patron of the Association. SWAG praised his dedication to sports journalism and said funeral arrangements will be announced in consultation with his family.

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has announced with deep sorrow the passing of its former President, Mr. Ebo Quansah, a respected journalist and stalwart of sports journalism in Ghana.
In an official statement released on June 26, 2025, SWAG expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Mr. Quansah, who served as the Association’s fifth President from 2001 to 2007.
Mr. Quansah's journey with SWAG was marked by dedication and commitment. He held several key positions, including Deputy Secretary and Secretary-General, before ascending to the presidency. Even after his tenure as President, he continued to serve SWAG as a Patron, playing an advisory and supportive role in the organization’s ongoing mission.
“His commitment to SWAG, tireless efforts to promote sports journalism, and development in Ghana will be deeply missed,” the statement said.
The Association noted that funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course in consultation with the family.
Mr. Ebo Quansah’s legacy in Ghanaian sports journalism remains indelible, having influenced a generation of writers and significantly contributed to the growth of the profession in the country.
SWAG, founded in 1968, remains the premier organization representing sports journalists across Ghana.
