Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports and son of President John Dramani Mahama, is set to host one of the biggest boxing events in Ghana’s recent history — the Battle of the Beasts — at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The highly anticipated event will feature ten action-packed bouts, showcasing a mix of Ghanaian boxing talent and international challengers. Headlining the night is Ghana’s Jacob “The Beast” Dickson, who will face off against American fighter Andrew Tabiti for the WBC Africa Bridgerweight title. The card also includes a Bantamweight clash between WBO Africa champion Daniel Selassie Gorsh and seasoned contender Theo Allotey, known in the ring as “Lopez.” National Cruiserweight champion Haruna “Thunder” Mohammed will defend his title against Abdulai Ahmed, while rising star Abubakar Kamoko, popularly called Bukom Tilapia and son of boxing legend Bukom Banku, is expected to thrill fans in a match against Stephen Ackon.
Sharaf Mahama, speaking at the event’s press launch at the Multichoice hub in Achimota, emphasized the importance of giving Ghanaian boxers a global platform. He expressed confidence in the event’s potential to elevate local boxing to international standards. Ahead of Friday's fights, a public weigh-in will take place on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Bukom Square Park, drawing fans and media alike.
The event has already garnered significant buzz, with high-profile figures from both Ghana and abroad expected to attend. Organizers say the presence of renowned boxing personalities and cultural icons will add to the night’s prestige.
The venue, Bukom Boxing Arena, remains the beating heart of Ghana’s boxing culture. Opened in 2016 with a 4,000-seat capacity, it stands in the heart of a community known for producing world champions such as Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey. As anticipation builds, all eyes are on Bukom for a night that promises to be a milestone in Ghanaian boxing history.
