Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have arrived in Ben Slimane, Morocco, to commence preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team landed in the early hours of Tuesday, June 17, after departing from Kotoka International Airport earlier that morning. Their arrival marks the beginning of an intensive training camp ahead of the prestigious continental tournament, set to begin on July 5 and end on July 26.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C, alongside defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. Under their new head coach, the Black Queens are aiming for a strong start as they chase their first-ever WAFCON title.
The team is scheduled to play a series of warm-up matches in the lead-up to their tournament opener, as they fine-tune tactics and build team chemistry under the guidance of Bjorkegren.
This marks a significant campaign for Ghanaian women’s football, with hopes high that the Black Queens will make a deep run in the tournament and bring home the long-awaited trophy.
