Ghanaian female footballer Elorm Linda has stated that being labeled “oba berima” a local term often used to describe women who exhibit traditionally male traits doesn’t faze her. According to the Sovereign Athletic Club player, her focus remains on reaching the highest level of professional football.

Speaking on KFM Television’s Sports Report with host Enoch Kofi Adadevoh, Linda shared that she grew up mingling with boys and has long been accustomed to such tags.

“When I was young, I always mingled with boys. Playing football doesn’t mean we are guys,” she said. “So for me, people tagging us as guys doesn’t mean anything. I’m used to it.”

Elorm also opened up about the lack of support from her family, revealing that they initially discouraged her from pursuing football, believing that “nothing good comes out of a woman playing football.”

“In my family, they never supported me. But for me, my only target is to work hard and get to the top,” she said.

She concluded by appealing to the general public for support to help her continue her football journey.

“Thank you to all those who have helped me in the past. And to anyone out there willing to support my career, my doors are open.”

Elorm Linda’s story reflects the resilience and determination of many female athletes breaking barriers in a male-dominated sport.
