Ghana’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Emmanuel Victor Smith, has urged staff at the Embassy in Washington, D.C., to demonstrate dedication and professionalism in safeguarding the country’s international reputation.
He made the call during a welcome reception held at his official residence on Sunday, September 5, where he was formally introduced to the embassy staff. Ambassador Smith, who arrived in Washington with his family, was warmly received by the Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Mrs. Jane Gasu Aheto, and other members of the diplomatic team.
In her remarks, Ambassador Aheto expressed gratitude for his safe arrival and optimism about building a strong partnership rooted in unity and mutual understanding. She highlighted the importance of teamwork in addressing pressing diplomatic challenges and advancing Ghana’s interests in the U.S.
Commending the embassy’s management for recent restructuring efforts, Ambassador Smith stressed the need for diligence and discipline among staff, cautioning against actions that could damage the nation’s image abroad.
“My goal is to make Ghana look good,” he said. “There is hope, so do not give up.”
His message, which emphasized resilience and professionalism, has been welcomed as a reaffirmation of Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties with the United States.
