On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Agona Swedru came alive as more than 100 Community Police and Fire Service Assistants were officially introduced to the community in a grand inaugural ceremony. The event marked a significant step toward enhancing security, strengthening emergency response, and empowering the youth of Agona West.
Representing Hon. Malik Basintale as Guest Speaker, Yaw Asamoah Buckman commended the recruits for their commitment to serve and protect. He emphasized that the initiative was not just about employment but also about instilling discipline, responsibility, and community service among the youth.
The ceremony was graced by high-profile dignitaries, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Odoom; Member of Parliament for Agona West, Hon. Ernestina Ofori Dangbey; the District Police Commander; the District Fire Chief; revered traditional leaders (Nananom); the Municipal Manager of the Youth Employment Agency, Ghana, Mensah Frank Freebody; executives of the NDC Constituency; and the proud residents of Agona West.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of collaboration between security agencies and the community, stressing that the presence of these gallant assistants will go a long way in ensuring safety, reducing crime, and supporting swift responses to fire and emergency situations.
The inaugural ceremony was not just a formal introduction but a powerful symbol of youth empowerment, community safety, and collective progress for the people of Agona West.
