As part of efforts to promote environmental consciousness among the youth, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a robust awareness initiative in schools within the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area.
The programme officially kicked off on Wednesday, June 18, with a sensitization event at the Presbyterian Cluster of Schools in Osu. The EPA team engaged both students and teachers on key environmental issues and practical ways to protect and preserve the environment.
As part of the initiative, the EPA donated waste bins, seedlings, and educational materials to support the schools in implementing environmentally friendly practices. Some of the seedlings were planted on the school compound to encourage tree-planting and greening of school environments.
To further motivate participation, EPA-branded T-shirts were awarded to outstanding students who actively contributed during the interaction sessions.
The Authority aims to extend this campaign to other basic and second-cycle schools across the region, reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship from an early age.
