An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a Ghanaian woman, Constance Gyasi Nimako, also known as Maa Adwoa, into custody for allegedly stealing and laundering GH¢800,000 that was mistakenly deposited into her bank account.

According to the prosecution, Constance and her mother, Cecilia Gyasi, conspired to launder the funds despite being contacted by the Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) on 6th February 2025 about the erroneous transaction.

Investigations revealed that by 11th February 2025, Constance had transferred GH¢300,000 to her mother’s Fidelity Bank account, GH¢400,000 to her GCB account, and withdrawn GH¢75,000 in cash. Efforts by police to contact her were allegedly met with insults and curses, after which she went into hiding in Kumasi.

While Constance remains in custody, her mother has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 with two sureties. The case continues as police intensify efforts to recover the funds.
