The partly burnt body of a 38-year-old Ghana Immigration Service officer, Steffen King Amoah, also known as Nana Kofi, has been discovered at Abuom Junction along the Abuom-Abokobi road, five days after he was reported missing.

Amoah, who left his residence at Gye Nyame House, Musuku Junction in Kwabenya on June 29, 2025, to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate, never returned. His worried family, after several failed attempts to reach him by phone, filed a missing persons report at the Taifa Police Station on July 4 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

His body, found wrapped in a woolen carpet and partially burnt, bore multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck, indicating a brutal murder. The gruesome discovery was confirmed by his brother, Akwasi Amoako, who said the family identified the body at the Police Hospital Mortuary where it was later deposited.

Sources say the suspected killers may have attempted to destroy evidence by setting the body on fire at the crime scene.

Amoah, who was well-known within the Sports Department of the Ghana Immigration Service headquarters, was enlisted into the service in 2013. He was a native of Old Tafo in Kumasi and was married to a policewoman in 2018. The couple has two young children , a 4-year-old son and a 5-month-old baby.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man, believed to be a friend of the deceased, has been remanded into custody by the Kwabenya Circuit Court on Monday, July 8, as police investigations continue.

The tragic death of Officer Amoah has sent shockwaves through both the community and the immigration service, where he was known for his dedication and vibrant personality. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward.
