Lawyers representing Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the recent court ruling that found her guilty of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
Addressing the media shortly after the verdict was delivered, the legal team stated, “The court has spoken, and we disagree with what the court says, but in spite of our disagreements, it is what it is.” They indicated that while they respect the court’s authority, they believe the ruling was flawed and plan to pursue legal avenues to challenge the decision.
Evangelist Nana Agradaa was convicted by the Circuit Court in Accra following charges related to a televised money-doubling scheme that aired in 2022, which led to multiple complaints from victims who claimed to have been defrauded.
Her lawyers revealed that processes were already underway to file an appeal, stating that they believe their client did not receive a fair assessment of the facts. “We are initiating steps to overturn the ruling. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done,” they added.
The case continues to attract widespread public attention, given Nana Agradaa’s controversial transformation from traditional priestess to Christian evangelist, and her frequent presence in the media.
More updates are expected as the appeal process unfolds.
