Former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, is currently under investigation by national security operatives over alleged financial impropriety and unauthorized dealings in state assets.
The 75-year-old former CEO was apprehended during a private birthday celebration at his residence in Kumasi over the weekend. He was subsequently transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further interrogation.
Sources indicate that Mr. Jumah is being probed for the alleged unauthorized sale of state assets and questionable acquisition of government vehicles during his tenure at GIHOC. Following his arrest, he was escorted by security personnel to inspect a number of vehicles reportedly confiscated from his possession as part of the ongoing investigations.
National Security is yet to release an official statement on the matter, but the case has sparked widespread public interest, particularly regarding accountability and transparency in the management of state-owned enterprises.
Mr. Jumah, a former Member of Parliament and Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, served as head of GIHOC Distilleries until his exit in recent years.
