The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old unemployed woman, Augustina Adoma, for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend’s property ablaze and stabbing him during a violent altercation at Race Course, Sowutuom.

According to a police statement issued by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The suspect reportedly visited the residence of her ex-boyfriend, Emmanuel Otabil, a 30-year-old driver, unannounced and found him with another woman. In a fit of rage, she allegedly poured a bucket of water on the pair and seized his Samsung mobile phone before leaving.

Later that same day, around 4:00 p.m., Adoma allegedly returned to the residence in Otabil’s absence. Using a duplicate key, she gained access to his kiosk and set several personal items including a mattress, carpet, blankets, and bedsheets on fire.

The confrontation escalated when Otabil confronted Adoma in the evening to retrieve his phone. During the heated exchange, she reportedly picked up a knife belonging to an orange seller nearby and stabbed him in the left side of the chest.

Otabil was initially rushed to Race Course Hospital, later transferred to Lapaz Community Hospital, and eventually to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

Police investigations led to the retrieval of the victim's phone from the suspect, who was later arrested at the Tesano Police Station. Interestingly, Adoma had gone there to submit a medical report related to a separate assault complaint she had filed against the victim.

The police say the case remains under investigation and have issued a strong warning to the public against acts of personal vengeance or violence, especially in domestic or relationship-related disputes. The command emphasized that such actions are unlawful and urged citizens to seek peaceful legal avenues for conflict resolution.
