The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has successfully passed out its 19th cadet intake at a graduation ceremony held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Immigration Academy and Training School in Assin Foso, Central Region.

The event formed part of efforts to enhance the human resource capacity of the Service in safeguarding Ghana’s borders and supporting national development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, highlighted the pivotal role of the GIS in protecting the nation’s security and advancing economic growth.

“The GIS is the first line of defence for our country. The Service ensures proper monitoring of all persons and goods entering and leaving Ghana, including the issuance of visas to non-Ghanaians,” the Minister stated.

Hon. Muntaka further announced plans to automate the residence permit process to improve efficiency and accountability. He urged the new officers to exhibit professionalism, vigilance, and dedication in their service to the nation.

The passing-out parade attracted dignitaries, security chiefs, and families of the graduates, who witnessed impressive drills and displays by the cadets.

The GIS has reiterated its commitment to strengthening border security in response to emerging migration and security challenges.
