Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa Engages US Embassy Over Reported Visa Ban Threat

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a high-level meeting with officials of the United States Embassy in Ghana, led by Acting Ambassador Rolf A. Olson, to address concerns over a possible visa ban on Ghana.
The meeting, which was initiated by Mr. Ablakwa, comes in the wake of a Washington Post report citing leaked memos that suggest Ghana is among 36 countries potentially facing new visa restrictions by the United States.
According to a post shared by the MP on his official Facebook page, the discussions were held in a cordial, transparent, and constructive atmosphere. He described the engagement as “most useful, constructive and hopeful.”
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized Ghana's commitment to sustained and positive diplomatic engagements with the United States at all levels, expressing confidence that the country would be removed from the reported list of nations facing possible sanctions.
“I am confident we shall be successful in the best interest of the admirable longstanding and inseparable bilateral relations between our two countries,” he stated.
The development has sparked public interest, with many closely monitoring how Ghana's diplomatic channels will navigate the issue to preserve the strong ties between the two nations.
