Former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has reportedly been granted bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 with two sureties following his recent arrest by national security operatives.
His arrest was based on a petition filed by the current management of GIHOC, calling for investigations into the circumstances surrounding his alleged acquisition of several company vehicles during his tenure. The petition raised concerns about possible irregularities and potential abuse of office.
Mr. Jumah was picked up from his Kumasi residence and later transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command before being moved to Accra for further interrogation. After preliminary investigations, he was arraigned and subsequently granted bail.
Sources close to the case indicate that the investigation is ongoing, and Mr. Jumah is expected to cooperate fully with the authorities. The matter has stirred public interest, given Mr. Jumah’s high-profile political and business background.
GHIOC Distilleries, a state-owned enterprise, has in recent months embarked on internal audits and accountability reviews aimed at improving transparency and corporate governance.
