The Parliamentary Service of Ghana has announced the launch of the second edition of the annual Democracy Cup football match, scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 3:00pm. The event will take place at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium inside Parliament House and will be officiated by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
This year’s launch will unveil the two football teams set to compete in the much-anticipated match, alongside key details of the event. The main match is slated for August 2025, following the successful maiden edition held on July 17, 2024, which saw Asante Kotoko defeat Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Democracy Cup was introduced in 2024 as part of Parliament’s efforts to promote national unity, peace, and civic engagement through sports, particularly football—Ghana’s most loved game.
Director of the Media Relations Department, David Sebastian Damoah, in a statement, assured the public that this second edition promises excitement and surprises, and called on all football lovers and citizens to support and participate.
