The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed profound sorrow and shock over the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, including prominent members of the party and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The victims of the crash include:

Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence and leading member of the NDC

Hon. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Member of Parliament

Dr. Samuel Sarpong – National Vice Chairman of the NDC

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

Mr. Samuel Aboagye – Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East (2020, 2024)

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu

Sergeant Ernest Addo


In a statement signed by the NDC General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party described the incident as a devastating moment for both the party and the nation, emphasizing that the deceased were not only loyal comrades but also exemplary patriots who served Ghana with courage and dedication.

“Their sudden and tragic departure is an irreplaceable loss to their families, the NDC, the Government, and the entire country,” the statement said.

The party extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the people of Ghana, pledging to uphold the values of patriotism, selflessness, integrity, and commitment to nation-building that the deceased embodied.

“May their souls rest in perfect peace. May their legacy of service and sacrifice continue to inspire us all,” the statement concluded.
