Deputy Interior Minister Charges Prisons Service to Prioritize Inmate Rehabilitation
Hon. Okletey Terlabi urges focus on reformation and reintegration at Recruit Course 125 Passing-Out Parade

The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has called on the Ghana Prisons Service to shift its operational focus from mere incarceration to prioritizing the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
Speaking at the Passing-Out Parade of Recruit Course 125 held at the Prison Officersโ Training School in Accra, Hon. Terlabi underscored the Governmentโs unwavering commitment to modernizing the Prisons Service into a humane and efficient correctional institution.
He highlighted several key interventions aimed at repositioning the Service, including the expansion of vocational training, educational programs, and productive enterprises within the prison system. According to the Deputy Minister, these initiatives are critical to ensuring that inmates leave prison reformed and equipped with the necessary skills to reintegrate successfully into society.
Hon. Terlabi congratulated the new recruits and urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and empathy in their duties as they join the national effort to create a more rehabilitative and restorative justice system.
The event drew dignitaries, families of recruits, and top officials from the Ghana Prisons Service.
