DCE for Gomoa East Mourns Helicopter Crash Victims

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, Hon. Margret Naana Ackom, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including two government ministers, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a statement issued shortly after the confirmation of the incident, Hon. Ackom described the tragedy as “a dark day for the nation” and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, and the entire National Democratic Congress (NDC) fraternity.
“This is an unbearable loss, not only for the families but for all of us as a nation. These were gallant servants of Ghana who died in the line of duty. My thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones during this very difficult time,” she said.
Hon. Ackom further called for unity and prayer across the country, urging Ghanaians to stand in solidarity as the nation mourns. She also encouraged calm as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
The Ghana Air Force helicopter was reported missing on the morning of August 6 and was later confirmed to have crashed, claiming the lives of all onboard.
