The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, has led a high-powered delegation to visit the families of the late Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong and the late Mr. Samuel Aboagye, two prominent figures who tragically lost their lives in the recent military helicopter crash.
The delegation, which included members of the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC), some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Regional Heads of Departments, and the Ashanti Regional Chairman, conveyed the President’s deepest sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved families during this difficult period.
Dr. Amoakohene described Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong a distinguished former Ashanti Regional Minister and native of Juaben as a dedicated public servant whose leadership left an indelible mark on the region. He also paid glowing tribute to Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and a proud son of Obuasi, praising his tireless commitment to disaster management and community service.
“Both men served Ghana and the Ashanti Region with dedication and distinction. May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may the Almighty grant their families, the Ashanti Region, and the entire nation strength to bear this great loss,” Dr. Amoakohene stated.
The visit formed part of a series of condolence engagements being undertaken to honour the memories of the eight individuals who perished in the crash and to assure their families of the nation’s support in this period of mourning.
