Vice President Leads Delegation to Console Families of Helicopter Crash Victims

Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has led a high-powered government delegation to console the families of the eight individuals who lost their lives in Wednesday’s tragic helicopter crash.

The Vice President, accompanied by senior government officials, national executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and members of the Military High Command, personally visited the homes of Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, and Alhaji Minuru Lumuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, to formally inform them of the incident and offer condolences.

In a parallel effort, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia led another delegation to Koforidua to comfort the family of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence. Two additional teams were dispatched to Takoradi to engage with the families of the helicopter crew, as well as the families of Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman, and Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of NADMO.

The visits form part of government’s coordinated response to the national tragedy, which has triggered three days of mourning declared by President John Dramani Mahama.

The crash, which occurred at Adansi Sikaman in the Ashanti Region, has plunged the nation into grief, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, international partners, and the general public.
