The Office of the Presidency has issued a national call for tributes in honour of the eight gallant compatriots who lost their lives in the tragic military helicopter crash of August 6, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Funeral Planning Committee invited individuals, institutions, and the general public to share messages of condolence and heartfelt tributes. These will be compiled into an official brochure for the State Funeral.
Members of the public are encouraged to submit their tributes via email to tributes@presidency.gov.gh by Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at exactly 12:00 PM (noon) GMT.
The State Funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square, beginning at 8:00 AM, where the nation will gather to bid a solemn farewell to the departed.
“The courage, dedication, and spirit of our fallen heroes must inspire us all to work towards a stronger, more united, and prosperous Ghana,” the statement read.
The crash, which occurred on August 6, plunged the nation into mourning and prompted a three-day national period of grief declared by President John Dramani Mahama. The upcoming funeral is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries, security personnel, family members, and citizens from all walks of life.
