In a sweeping anti-corruption operation, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested several top current and former officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), and the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) over their alleged roles in the controversial SML revenue assurance deal.
Among those detained are Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Commissioner-General of the GRA; Isaac Crentsil, a former Commissioner of Customs and current General Manager at SML; and Christian Tetteh Sottie, a former Technical Advisor at the GRA who now serves as Managing Director of SML.
Their arrests are tied to the controversial revenue assurance contracts between GRA and SML, which have faced intense public and legal scrutiny over questionable procurement processes and concerns about the true financial value these contracts offer to the state.
The unfolding scandal was first brought to light through an investigative documentary by former reporters of The Fourth Estate — Evans Aziamor-Mensah, Adwoa Adobea-Owusu, and Manasseh Azure Awuni. The exposé, which followed a year-long investigation, uncovered a web of alleged corruption and mismanagement surrounding SML’s operations and dealings with the GRA.
