Nigerian Gospel Musician Sentenced to Death by Hanging for Murder of NYSC Member
Nigerian gospel musician Oluwatimileyin Ajayi has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Lafia High Court for the murder of NYSC member Salome Adaidu. He was arrested on January 12, 2025, with her severed head and later led police to his home where her dismembered body was found. Ajayi was charged with culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code and found guilty.

The Lafia High Court in Nasarawa State has sentenced Nigerian gospel musician, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, to death by hanging for the gruesome murder of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu.
Ajayi was arrested on January 12, 2025, after being found in possession of the severed head of the young corps member. During police interrogation, he confessed and led officers to his residence, where they discovered the dismembered remains of the victim.
He was charged with one count of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria. The court, after reviewing the evidence presented, found him guilty and handed down the death sentence.
The chilling case has drawn national outrage and renewed calls for stronger measures to protect corps members and ensure swift justice for victims of violent crimes.
