Residents of Kotokuom in the Atwima Mponua District are beaming with excitement and relief following the completion of a newly constructed bridge by the government. The vital infrastructure comes just three months after the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Minister for Roads and Highways visited the area to inspect the dangerously dilapidated old bridge.
The swift response and dedication by the government have been widely praised by community members, who had long endured challenges crossing the river, especially during the rainy season. The new bridge is expected to boost economic activity, ease transportation, and enhance safety for motorists, traders, farmers, and school children who use the route daily.
Speaking to the media, some residents expressed gratitude to the government for acting promptly to address their plight. "This bridge is a lifesaver. Now we can move our goods to market without fear," one local farmer remarked.
The Atwima Mponua District Assembly also commended the collaborative efforts between the government, contractors, and community leaders that made the project a success.
The new bridge is seen as a symbol of progress and a testament to the government’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure across the Ashanti Region.
