Former GIHOC MD Kofi Jumah Arrested by National Security Over Alleged Financial Misconduct
Former GIHOC MD Maxwell Kofi Jumah was arrested by national security at his Kumasi home on June 29, 2025. He is being investigated for alleged financial misconduct and unauthorized asset sales during his time at GIHOC. He is currently in custody at the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

Former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has reportedly been arrested by national security operatives at his Kumasi residence.
The arrest, which occurred earlier today, was confirmed by the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh. According to him, Mr. Jumah was picked up and transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where he is currently in custody, awaiting further instructions from Accra.
Sources close to the development indicate that Mr. Jumah is under investigation for alleged financial misconduct during his tenure as Managing Director. This includes suspected unauthorized sale of assets and questionable acquisition of vehicles.
The arrest follows a previous attempt by security officials on May 15 to retrieve state-owned vehicles allegedly still in Mr. Jumah’s possession. However, he was reportedly not home during that operation.
Authorities have not yet officially commented on the details of the charges, but investigations are said to be ongoing. The case has sparked widespread interest due to Mr. Jumah’s prominent role in public service and within the ruling NPP.
