Five male inmates from the Kumasi Central Prison are among the thousands of candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), demonstrating a strong commitment to education and rehabilitation.
The candidates are taking their exams at the Bantama Adventist Senior High School examination center under strict supervision.
In a show of support, the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Agyemang Boadu, visited the center to encourage the inmates. He praised their determination and emphasized the power of education in transforming lives, regardless of one's circumstances.
"This is a bold step toward a better future. I commend you for not giving up and choosing to pursue education despite the odds," the Mayor stated during his visit.
The Ghana Prisons Service continues to work closely with the Ghana Education Service to offer inmates access to formal education and opportunities for reintegration into society.
