Adidome SHS Wins 2025 Volta Regional Renewable Energy Challenge with Plastic Waste Innovation
Adidome Senior High School won the 2025 Volta Regional Renewable Energy Challenge with a project that uses a smart dustbin to separate and convert plastic waste into useful items like pavement blocks. The event, held at OLA Girls SHS in Ho, showcased student innovations on renewable energy. Adidome SHS will represent the region at the zonal level of the national contest.

Adidome Senior High School has emerged victorious in the 2025 Volta Regional Renewable Energy Challenge, held on June 17 at OLA Girls Senior High School in Ho. The event, organised by the Energy Commission, brought together brilliant young minds under the theme "Sustainable Energy for a Healthier Future."
Students from across the region showcased creative solutions addressing food security, waste management, and health delivery using renewable energy. Adidome SHS stole the show with their project, "Plastic Waste Conversion," featuring a smart dustbin that automatically separates plastic waste from other refuse. The collected plastics are converted into useful products like pavement blocks, tackling pollution while promoting sustainability.
Adidome SHS scored 75.2 points to clinch the top spot and will represent the Volta Region at the zonal level of the national competition.
The Energy Commission commended all participants for their efforts in advancing Ghana’s renewable energy agenda.
