Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of eight gallant compatriots who perished in the Sikaman helicopter crash on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region.
In an emotional statement, Mr. Debrah painted a vivid picture of the nation’s collective sorrow, saying:
“In quiet tribute, we lay these flowers, not just for lives lost, but for the love, duty, and sacrifice they leave behind. Ghana mourns, and remembers. This is really hard to take in. Rest well, comrades. For God and country.”
The Chief of Staff described the deceased as men and women whose lives were bound to the service of Ghana ,people who, in carrying out their duty, demonstrated courage, loyalty, and a willingness to place the welfare of the nation above their own safety.
“They were not only public servants; they were symbols of resilience, hope, and the unbroken spirit of our motherland. Their passing is a wound to the heart of our nation, and their memory will forever be etched in the story of Ghana’s progress,” he noted.
Mr. Debrah emphasized that this tragedy should strengthen the bonds of unity among Ghanaians, urging all citizens to rise above political, ethnic, and personal divisions to honor the legacy of the departed.
“Their service was for all of us for Ghana,” he said. “And the best tribute we can pay them is to continue building the nation they served so faithfully. Let us take comfort in knowing that their sacrifice was not in vain, and that their legacy will live on in every act of service, every moment of unity, and every dream we pursue for a better future.”
The Chief of Staff extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
The eight individuals lost in the crash have been hailed across the country as patriots whose dedication to duty will inspire future generations of leaders and public servants. As the nation observes the official mourning period, flags fly at half-mast, and prayers are offered in homes, churches, and mosques across Ghana.
“They served for God and country,” Mr. Debrah concluded. “And for that, we will never forget them.”
