Minority Leader in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic deaths of eight distinguished Ghanaians who perished in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash.
The victims include:
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science & Technology
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former Parliamentary Candidate (2020 & 2024)
Squadron Leader Peter Anala
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo
In a heartfelt tribute, Ato Forson described the deceased as “distinguished men of honour who died in the line of duty.”
“To the bereaved families: your grief is shared by a nation. Ghana mourns with you,” he stated, adding that the fallen were not only public figures but also “fathers, brothers, mentors, and friends who gave their all to this country.”
He further noted that President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC, and the government were deeply shaken by the immense loss, emphasizing that “though their earthly journey has ended, their light will forever shine.”
The fatal crash, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, has plunged the nation into mourning as tributes continue to pour in from across the political divide and the general public.
