Dr. Emmanuel Appoh Mensah has joined the growing chorus of national figures mourning the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including senior government officials, earlier today.
In an emotional statement, Dr. Appoh Mensah expressed his grief and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
“I am broken beyond words. This is too hard to accept and too much to bear. Dr. Omane Boamah and Murtala Mohammed, this is sad,” he lamented.
The crash involved a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter on official duty and resulted in the deaths of prominent individuals such as former Communications Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Deputy Trade Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. The tragedy has plunged the nation into deep mourning, with flags flying at half-mast and a period of national mourning declared by President John Dramani Mahama.
Tributes continue to pour in from across the political spectrum, with citizens and leaders alike describing the incident as one of the darkest days in Ghana’s recent history. The Ghana Armed Forces, together with civil aviation authorities, have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
