Sammy Gyamfi Sues Afia Schwarzenegger for GHS 10 Million Over Defamation Claims

The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has filed a defamation suit against social media personality Afia Schwarzeneger whose real name is Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.

According to court document issued from the high court in Accra, Mr Gyamfi is seeking a declaration that comments made Ms.Agyeiwaa, which he describes as false and malicious, have tarnished his reputation. The statement in question, made in Asante Twi, and circulated online, accused him of engaging in inappropriate relationships and alleged financial misconduct involving his family.

Mr Gyamfi is demanding general and exemplary damage amounting to Ten million Ghana Cedis ( 10,000,000.00), a perpetual injunction to restrain Ms Agyeiwaa from publishing further defamatory statements, and a public retraction with an unqualified apology to be given the same prominence as the original remarks. 

The writ which he as been served outside Ghana's jurisdiction to Ms. Agyeiwaa's residence in the Bronx, New York,  was issued persuant to leave of the court on July 23, 2025.

The case will be heard in the superior court of Judicature, High Court of Justice in Accra.
