Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the families of the victims of Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash.
In a statement released shortly after the news broke, the legislator described the incident as “heartbreaking,” emphasizing his solidarity with the bereaved families and the entire nation during this period of mourning.
“My heartfelt condolences to the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Government, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and especially to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in the military helicopter crash today. May the souls of the departed find eternal rest in the Lord,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #BlackWednesday to mark the gravity of the tragedy.
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed earlier today that a Z-9 military helicopter went down en route to the Northern Region, resulting in multiple fatalities, including high-ranking officials. The crash has since been declared a national tragedy, with flags flying at half-mast as the nation mourns the loss of its gallant officers.
The government has announced that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash while arrangements are being made for a state burial for the deceased.
