The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has firmly rejected a proposal by the Electoral Commission (EC) to rerun elections in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North constituency.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, described the Commission’s decision as unlawful and without basis. He emphasized that the NPP would not support any rerun, insisting that the original results reflect the true will of the people.
“The proposal by the Electoral Commission to organize a rerun in 19 polling stations is not grounded in law or fact. It is unacceptable, and we will not be part of any such process,” Kodua stated.
He further argued that the decision risks undermining the integrity of the electoral process and could set a dangerous precedent for future elections. The NPP has called on the EC to uphold the existing results and urged all stakeholders to respect the democratic outcomes already declared.
The Electoral Commission is yet to officially respond to the NPP’s objections, as tensions continue to rise within the politically active constituency.
