The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially distanced itself from recent controversial comments made by its Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, against Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.
In a press release dated June 30, 2025, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP described Abronye's remarks during a media appearance on Ohia TV as “unfortunate and unprovoked,” stressing that they do not reflect the values, beliefs, or official stance of the party.
“The New Patriotic Party holds religious leadership in high regard and recognises the immense contributions of Archbishop Duncan-Williams and the broader religious community to national development, peace, and moral guidance,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the democratic right to free speech, the party emphasized that such freedoms must be exercised responsibly, especially when addressing respected figures in society.
The NPP further urged the public, particularly the Christian community, to treat Abronye DC’s statements as his personal opinion and not representative of the party’s position.
The statement concluded with a renewed commitment to respectful engagement with all sectors of society and continued collaboration with religious institutions for national progress.
