NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn Wins Ablekuma North Parlimentary seat
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a significant victory in the hotly contested Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, with Ewurabena Aubynn emerging as the provisional winner over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a significant victory in the hotly contested Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, with Ewurabena Aubynn emerging as the provisional winner over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie.
The rerun, held on Friday, July 11, 2025, covered 19 polling stations and was organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) to resolve a months-long electoral dispute following the 2024 general elections. The rerun was marred by incidents of violence, including reported assaults on political figures and journalists, but concluded with relative calm after security was reinforced.
Provisional results compiled by 3news indicate that Ewurabena Aubynn polled 1,768 votes, narrowly defeating Nana Akua Afriyie, who garnered 1,552 votes — a difference of 216 votes.

Despite initial fears of a boycott by the NPP, candidate Nana Akua Afriyie contested against her party's directive and managed to win in several key polling stations. However, the overall momentum favored the NDC’s candidate.
Following the declaration of the results, celebrations broke out at various NDC camps, while some NPP supporters expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the elections, citing violence and intimidation.
Ewurabena Aubynn will represent the people of Ablekuma North in the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic, filling a seat that has been vacant since the disputed December 2024 elections.
Official declaration of results from Ablekuma North Patlimentary rerun shows Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) pulled a massive vote of 34,090 and Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie of the New Patriotic Party pulled a vote of 33, 881.
