In a major step toward strengthening the agricultural value chain in Gomoa East, Mighty Crops Company LTD, in collaboration with the Gomoa East District Agric Directorate, has announced the formation of the Maize and Cassava Growers Association, a strategic move aimed at mobilizing local farmers for future donor-supported programmes.
The initiative, which targets all maize and cassava farmers in the district, is designed to enhance coordination, provide access to technical and financial resources, and position farmers for large-scale support from development partners.
According to a statement released by Mighty Crops, registration for interested farmers will take place on Monday, 7th July 2025 at 7:30 a.m. at the company’s office, strategically located along the Akotsi–Akramang Road, directly opposite the Salvation Army Church.
“This is a golden opportunity for every maize and cassava farmer in Gomoa East,” said Isaac Addo, spokesperson for Mighty Crops. “By coming together under one recognized association, farmers will benefit from training, access to inputs, improved market links, and potential funding from both local and international development partners.”
The partnership between Mighty Crops a company already renowned for its premium pineapple exports and the District Agric Directorate signals a robust public-private collaboration aimed at unlocking the district’s full agricultural potential.
Agricultural officers from the Gomoa East Directorate have also thrown their weight behind the initiative, noting that group formation is essential for building farmer resilience and achieving economies of scale in the distribution of resources.
“This is not just about forming another group,” said a senior official at the Agric Directorate. “It’s about building a sustainable platform that will ensure maize and cassava farmers are seen, heard, and supported on every level.”
Interested farmers are urged to treat the announcement as urgent and ensure timely registration. For further inquiries, individuals can contact Isaac Addo at 0535 512 542.
With increasing interest from development partners in supporting food security and climate-smart agriculture, the new Maize and Cassava Growers Association promises to be a game-changer for farmers in the Gomoa East District.
