The Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Edward Ato Sarpong, has lauded the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for unveiling its ambitious 5-year strategic plan (2025–2030), describing it as a forward-looking blueprint that will significantly shape Ghana’s educational transformation agenda.

Speaking at the launch of the plan, Mr. Sarpong said the document reflects the University’s bold vision to reposition itself as a hub for innovation, teacher education, and human capital development. He noted that the initiative aligns with national priorities to strengthen the quality of education, enhance skills training, and prepare Ghana’s youth for the competitive global economy.

“The UEW strategic plan is not just a document, but a roadmap for the future. It embodies the vision, courage, and determination needed to transform education in Ghana, and ADB is proud to support such forward-thinking initiatives,” he said.

Mr. Sarpong further emphasized that ADB remains committed to going “Beyond Banking” by backing initiatives that drive sustainable development in critical sectors, particularly education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. He added that investing in quality education is essential for the nation’s long-term progress and prosperity.

The new 5-year strategic plan outlines key areas including curriculum modernization, digitalization of teaching and learning, enhanced research output, infrastructure development, and stronger industry partnerships. It is expected to position UEW as a center of excellence in teacher education and innovation by 2030.

University authorities expressed optimism that with strong stakeholder collaboration, the plan would make UEW a driving force in Ghana’s quest for a globally competitive education system.
