Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, has revealed that family interference led to the collapse of her second marriage, which she described as a happy union.
Speaking at the “Convergence of Mothers” event hosted by media personality MzGee, Maame Dokono cautioned couples against allowing family influence in their relationships, stating it often leads to marital breakdowns.
“I enjoyed that marriage so much, but it collapsed because I listened to family. If you listen to family, your marriage will collapse,” she warned, though she did not specify which side of the family was involved.
Reflecting on her life, the celebrated actress shared that she has six children from three different relationships, two with each partner. She recalled a near-death experience at Korle-Bu Hospital during childbirth and how love led her to start over despite earlier vows not to get pregnant again.
Despite her failed marriage, Maame Dokono emphasized resilience and moving on. “When it collapsed, I was 40 years old… but I met another man and had two more children,” she added.
