Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted by the Circuit Court in Accra for engaging in charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
The conviction stems from a widely televised advertisement aired in 2022, during which the former traditional priestess turned evangelist claimed she had the spiritual power to double money for members of the public. The misleading claim led to several individuals parting with significant amounts of money, hoping for miraculous financial returns that never materialized.
Presiding over the case, Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah found Nana Agradaa guilty of the charges and directed that she be taken to a medical facility for a pregnancy test, in accordance with sentencing guidelines, before the final sentence is handed down.
Nana Agradaa, who is the founder of Heaven Way Church, has been at the center of public controversy in recent years following her conversion from traditional priesthood to Christian evangelism. Despite her rebranding, she has faced multiple allegations of fraud related to spiritual and financial manipulation.
Further details on the sentencing and potential custodial terms are expected to be announced in the coming days.
