IMF Approves Ghana’s 4th ECF Review, Unlocks $370 Million Disbursement
Ghana has secured a significant financial boost as the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the country’s 4th Review under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) Programme, paving the way for a disbursement of $370 million.

Ghana has secured a significant financial boost as the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the country’s 4th Review under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) Programme, paving the way for a disbursement of $370 million.
The announcement was made by Ghana’s Finance Minister, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who hailed the approval as a testament to the country’s firm commitment to fiscal discipline and economic transformation.
“This landmark approval validates Ghana’s unwavering commitment to fiscal discipline and strategic economic transformation,” Dr. Forson wrote on his official social media page.
He noted that the progress under the programme reflects the success of Ghana’s macroeconomic policies and structural reforms, which are now yielding tangible results recognized by the international community.
“Today marks another decisive step forward in Ghana’s economic recovery journey, demonstrating that our reform agenda is not just working it’s exceeding expectations and rebuilding confidence in our nation’s financial future,” he added.
The disbursement brings a much-needed injection of foreign exchange into the economy and further strengthens Ghana’s position as it works toward full economic stabilization and growth under the three-year IMF-supported programme.
The Finance Ministry is expected to provide additional details on the utilization of the funds and progress under the ECF programme during the upcoming mid-year budget review.
