The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), visited the Police Hospital in Accra on Friday, June 13, 2025, to commend the hospital staff for their outstanding service during the recent strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
During the visit, the IGP praised the hospital’s administration and frontline workers for effectively managing a surge in patient numbers, as many citizens turned to Police medical facilities for healthcare amid the nationwide strike. According to the Medical Director, Commissioner of Police Dr. Otu Nyarko, the hospital recorded over a 300% increase in patient visits in the past week. Similar trends were noted at the Police Hospital in Kumasi and other Police clinics nationwide.
To handle the situation, all doctors on annual and study leave were recalled, and contingency measures were swiftly implemented to ensure no patient was turned away.
Mr. Yohuno lauded the dedication and professionalism of the medical team, encouraging them to maintain their commitment to saving lives. He highlighted the importance of the newly commissioned Police Hospital in Kumasi and reaffirmed the Police Administration’s commitment to enhancing medical service delivery across all Police health facilities.
