Heroic VIP Bus Driver Averts Tragedy in Walewale as Crash Leaves One Critical

A major disaster was narrowly avoided in Walewale when a VIP bus carrying over 60 passengers veered off the road to prevent a fatal collision with a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 18, involving a VIP bus with registration number GT 6001-18, en route from Kumasi to Bolgatanga. According to eyewitness accounts, the motorcyclist suddenly crossed into the path of the speeding bus without warning.

Reacting swiftly, the driver swerved to avoid hitting the rider, a move that sent the bus skidding off the road and into a nearby gutter. Despite the alarming scene, all passengers aboard the bus escaped unhurt, thanks to the driver’s quick reflexes and skillful maneuvering.

The motorcyclist, however, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in critical condition at the Walewale Municipal Hospital.

The Walewale Municipal Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and have launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the near-tragic event.

Several witnesses commended the driver for his bravery and presence of mind. “If the driver hadn’t acted fast, we could have lost many lives including pedestrians and traders along the roadside,” one eyewitness remarked.

As the community recovers from the scare, authorities are urging all road users to exercise caution, respect traffic rules, and remain vigilant to prevent future accidents.
