The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a strong public alert, cautioning Ghanaians against falling prey to fraudulent recruitment schemes currently circulating on social media platforms.
In a press release dated June 20, 2025, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the Service categorically stated that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at this time. The GIS emphasized that official announcements regarding recruitment are only published in national newspapers such as the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times, not on social media.
The statement further highlighted the alarming rise in fake social media pages and impersonators who use images and videos of the Service to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. GIS warned that such acts of impersonation are criminal offenses under Ghanaian law and urged perpetrators to desist immediately.
Members of the public were strongly advised to disregard any unauthorized promises of employment, especially those that demand payment. The Service encouraged citizens to report such fraudulent activities to the Ghana Police Service or the nearest GIS office without delay.
“We appreciate the interest of all prospective applicants who wish to serve Ghana with honor. We urge you to remain vigilant and patient, and not to fall victim to these scams,” the release stated.
For further enquiries or to report suspicious activity, the public can contact the GIS Public Affairs Department via 0555027024 or email info@immigration.gov.gh.
