The ceremony, held on Wednesday, June 25,2025, also saw the induction of Prof. Ransford Gyampo, acting chief executive officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, as a member of the newly reconstituted board.
The appointments are part of a broader government strategy to strengthen the governance structure of the GPHA and provide strategic oversight as Ghana continues to modernize and expand its port infrastructure.
The new board is expected to set policy direction for the authority, improve operational efficiency, and support infrastructure development projects at major ports across the country.
The GPHA, a key institution in facilitating international trade, plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic development.
The new leadership is tasked with driving reforms to enhance competitiveness, increase revenue mobilization, and position Ghana as a maritime hub in West Africa.
GPHA is a state-owned logistics service provider that manages and operates the Port of Tema and the Port of Takoradi in partnership with several private service providers. These partners oversee vessel operations, stevedoring, cargo handling, storage, and delivery of both containerized and general cargo. The authority is also responsible for maintaining safety, security, and environmental services within the ports.
